Charles Mungoshi: Novelist, Poet and Children’s Author


Charles Mungoshi has written novels in both Shona and English.

He has also written two collections of children’s stories, Stories from a Shona Childhood (1989) and One Day, Long Ago: More Stories from a Shona Childhood (1991) which won him the Noma Award; a collection of poems, The Milkman doesn’t only deliver Milk (1998); two collections of short stories, The Setting Sun and the Rolling World (1987) and Walking Still (1997) as well as two novels, Waiting for the Rain (1975) and Ndiko kupindana kwamazuva (1975).

Mungoshi has twice won the Commonwealth Writers Prize (Africa region) and received the International PEN award for two of his novels.
