Mehfil-E-ShayeriMehfil-E-Shayeri (The Poetry Gathering) would like to invite you to experience South Asian poetry and literature first hand at our special anniversary event.

With the help and support of Arts Council England, Mehfil-E-Shayeri has over the last year been bringing the best Asian writers and poets internationally to read and recite their work in Leicester. Thousands of people have experienced real Asian poetry in many languages including Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati and English at our live events, and tens of thousands have visited the Mehfil-E-Shayeri website where transcripts, audio and video recordings of all the poetry are available.

This special one year celebration is being held on Saturday 2nd June at the Richard Attenborough Centre in Leicester. Celebrations will last all day (2pm – 8pm) Guests are invited to attend between 3:30 – 5pm to see a special introduction to South Asian literature given by the poets and writers of Mehfil-E-Shayeri.

We very much hope you will be able to attend. Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can make preparations. You are welcome to bring additional guests, just let us know how many. To confirm your attendance please e-mail: Inderjit Gugnani.

Today, I think without the mention of Bhuwan Thapaliya, a poet from Nepal, South Asian poetry is not complete. Check his poems in the web and do justice to him and his nation Nepal.
