Freedom Showcase: July 19, 2007


10 exciting spoken word artists from Derby, Leicester and Nottingham present an unmissable live literature showcase, marking the bicentenary of the act abolishing the transatlantic slave trade. The event will take place at the Phoenix in Leicester on July 19, 2007.

Featuring Spice, Azikwe Blair, Kibwe Blair, Sureshot, Nick King, Dee Piari, Sarra Rain, Mr Jones, Lydia Towsey and Kevin Wallace this is a fantastic night of lyrical genius, dynamic vocal dexterity and mesmerising oral eloquence. The writers share their personal visions of ‘freedom’ through a diversity of moods and spoken word styles. Directed by Melanie Abrahams, writers mentored by Malika Booker and Kevin Fegan.
